This Baileys chocolate martini is dessert in a glass and is kicked up a notch from a traditional chocolate martini by adding Baileys Irish Cream.
I'm a sucker for a good dessert martini - from a white chocolate martini to a pumpkin martini to a chocolate espresso martini.
And while this Baileys chocolate martini is perfect for a Christmas party, you really can enjoy it any time of year or perhaps New Year's Eve which is just around the corner. You can even add in 1 tablespoon of homemade hot chocolate mix for extra chocolate flavor!
Why This co*cktail Works
- It's an ideal co*cktail for festive holiday celebrations or a romantic date night.
- If you are a fan of chocolate and Baileys, this drink is for you.
- Ready in less than 5 minutes, this versatile drink serves as both a standalone dessert or a dessert co*cktail.
Ingredient Notes
- Irish cream -I always have Baileys but a store-brand works just as well. You could also make yourown.
- Chocolate liqueur -Select a premium chocolate liqueur to enhance the drink's richness and sweetness. Brands like Licor 43, Mozart or Creme de Cacao work well.
- Vodka -you want to use quality vodka like Grey Goose or Belvedere. This just is used to up the booze a little bit.
- Chocolate - Just used as a garnish when you shave a chocolate bar but you can omit.
Variations
Like any co*cktail you can mix some of the ingredients. Some options include:
- Flavored vodka - Instead of just vodka, try vanilla flavored vodka.
- Peppermint - If you want to make it more holiday-themed, add ½ozpeppermint schnapps.
- Garnishes - Add some fresh fruit like strawberries or cherries.
FAQs
What Chocolate Liqueur Do You Use?
There are plenty of options out there and some include Licor 43, Mozart and Trader Vic's.
Is Crème de Cacao the Same as Chocolate Liqueur?
Crème de cacao is a specific type of chocolate liqueur made from cacao beans, available in clear and dark varieties, known for its rich chocolate flavor.
Chocolate liqueur, on the other hand, is a broader category encompassing various liqueurs with chocolate or cocoa flavorings, which may differ in ingredients and taste from crème de cacao.
How Do I Make a Martini without a co*cktail Shaker?
I know not everyone hasco*cktail shakers. Just add your ingredients for the martini to a mug with some ice, screw the lid on tightly and start shaking.
Can I Prepare in Advance for a Party?
While it's best to serve fresh, you can prepare the base mixture (excluding ice) in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
Shake the mixture with ice just before serving to ensure the ideal texture and temperature.
Pro Tips/Recipe Notes
- Place themartini glass in the freezerfor an hour so it keeps your martini chilled.
- If you want some vanilla flavor, add ½ teaspoon vanilla extract or try vanilla flavored vodka.
- Depending on your preference, you may want to adjust the sweetness of your martini. You can add a touch of simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink, or cut back on the chocolate liqueur for a less sweet option.

This was delicious. My wife was over the moon with it. It's a co*cktail and a dessert in one, so it is definitely an after-dinner treat. I added a drop of essence of vanilla to the recipe and I think it mellowed out the other ingredients.Reply

Absolutely delicious! I did not have chocolate liqueur, so I mixed 2 ounces half and half with 1 tsp cocoa powder and sugar. Cuts back a bit on the alcohol. Will make again for special occasions. Thank you for the recipe!Reply
