Is Blue Curacao good in jello shots? ›

This green Margarita jello shots recipe is made with tequila, blue curacao and lime jello. These jelly shots are so easy to make and taste awesome. Perfect for St Patrick's Day, a Super Bowl party or a birthday party.

Spiked with alcohol, these boozy jigglers are easy to make and come in every color and flavor imaginable. While vodka is a popular option because of its neutral flavor, you'll find jelly shot recipes that use rum, tequila, whiskey, liqueurs, wine, and even a dark beer. Some are layered, and others are nice and simple.

In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka, or other liquor. Place the mixture in the refrigerator to reach a consistent temperature. Place 1 (3-ounce) package any flavor gelatin in a separate bowl or glass measuring cup, and slowly add the remaining 1 cup boiling water.

Note: The colder your alcohol is, the better the result. I think this has to do with the activation of the gelatin. Personally, when possible, I keep the bottle of alcohol in the freezer for several days before making my shots.

Blue Curaçao also mixes up super well with vodka, tequila, and rum, so feel free to use it to spike your favorite lemonade (like our mermaid lemonade) or vodka punch. We don't know about you, but we have a budding crush on our blue crush margaritas.

Place shot glasses on a baking tray for easy transport. Pour gelatin mixture into paper or plastic shot cups* and chill in refrigerator until set, 1 hour or more. *Reviewers suggest coating the shot cups lightly with cooking spray so the shots slide right out.

This jello shot recipe uses 1/2 cup vodka for 12 shots = 1/3 ounce vodka per shot. That's 4 jello shots to equal 1 regular shot of vodka. Even if you take out the cold water and use 1 cup vodka = that's still only 2/3 ounce vodka per shot. This is typical of jello shots.

Use your finger to trace the inside walls of the cup to loosen the jello from the sides (you can also use some nonstick cooking spray to help them come out before filling the cups). Flip the cup up near your mouth and suck the shot out.

To do it, simply pour your liquid Jell-O shot into the cups, add the lid, and then flip each one before refrigerating. The result is a shot that sticks to the lid rather than the edges of the cup, allowing you easy access to that Jell-O goodness and making it so much easier to slurp down.

What brand of Vodka can I use for making Jello shots? The brand is entirely up to you - but if it was me I'd go budget brand like Absolut or Stoli and you can have a lot of mixing the flavored vodka with jello flavors - off the top of my head I would say Strawberry Jello with Absolut Peppar.

If you're making them for potency and less for taste, this probably is the best option. Try using flavored vodka to make it more palatable. Rum – This is my favorite alcohol to use, it tastes great with pretty much every jello flavor, it's smooth, and flavored rums can really add a lot to a shot!
